| Submersible axial flow pumps or propeller pumps and mixed flow pumps are also known as submersible column pumps due to its typical installation method. They are widely used in irrigation, flood control, sewage treatment and other applications. To make themselves competitive in the aspect of price in local market, a lot of overseas engineering companies, wholesalers, and pump brands purchase OEM/ODM submersible column pumps from China. However, when it happens to replacement of international brands’ pumps or substitutes are needed, they may have trouble to find good sources. 1. Propeller pumps of international brands are also fitted with wear ring or liner as standard in general, normally in stainless steel or bronze, while China manufacturers don’t provide in their standard and common design. 2. Some international brands install such pumps by supporting the suction bell at bottom of discharge column pipe, while the others support discharge bowl for installation. Most China manufacturers follow the discharge bowl type. 3. Some brands like Grundfos offers one-lead cable for small pumps(normally with motor power lower than 55kW). Most Chinese manufacturers only offer separate power and control cables. 4. Column pipe diameters are different. Generally speaking, diameters of Chinese manufacturers are bigger than international brands for small size pumps, but same or smaller for big size pumps. 5. The axial flow impeller of most Chinese manufacturers is ‘hub + vanes’ type. Vanes can be adjusted to different angles, locked and welded to hub, while some international brands provide one-piece casted impeller. Except OEM/ODM cooperation with international brands, normally Chinese manufacturers are not so willing to modify their standard designs and patterns because the ordered quantity is only several sets each time usually.
